[TODO] Grace - Audio file not found with `default_path` directive

Hey,

I just started using Grace as my sampler.

So I downloaded the VSCO community edition. It comes with one tree organised samples directories in an archive, and sfz files bundled in another archive.

The sfz files stars with

<control>

default_path=Woodwinds\Bassoon\stac\

<global>
[...]

<region>
sample=PSBassoon_A1_v1_rr1.wav

[...]

However Grace does not seem to honour the "default_path" directive. Is is a non standard SFZ element ?

Can it be added to the engine or should I fix the SFZ files?

Thanks in advance.

Yves

Re: [TODO] Grace - Audio file not found with `default_path` directive

Welcome to the forum M'vy,

This is the first I've seen "default_path". It probably is a standard SFZ element but I'd have to check to be sure. Either way, I don't have a lot of time at the moment, so you'd be best off modifying the SFZ files for use with Grace. Sorry, I know that will be painful.

I'll mark this report as TODO for now and come back to fix it when more time presents itself. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Cheers
Shannon

Re: [TODO] Grace - Audio file not found with `default_path` directive

Oh it won't be that painful, I already have a bash script and in mind to capture then find replace. Just wanted to know if that was worth the investment to do it.

This plus signaling the issue.

BTW, it finds the sample without problems using the search in feature of locate missing samples dialog. You probably just need to identify the default path directive and call that function on each sample.

Thanks for the quick answer. Good luck.

Re: [TODO] Grace - Audio file not found with `default_path` directive

I've used a couple of scripts (unix tools: basj and awk) to do the job if anyone is interested to do the same :

replace.awk

BEGIN {FS="=";}
/default_path/ {a=$2; print $0; next}
/sample/ {print "sample="a$2; next}
{print $0}
for i in *.sfz; do awk -f replace.awk $i > $i.1; mv $i.1 $i; done

I might be wrong but my understanding is that Grace doesn't recognize round robins in sfz files. So probably better to use VSCO in Sforzando.
